Testimonials
As a Town Planning Consultant I have introduced James/Groundworks Archaeology many times to developers of both large (60 house +) and small projects (1 house). He has done Heritage Statements and site investigations for me. It is worthwhile first discussing the project with James to agree the brief as he is far more knowledgeable about what different local authorities’
expect for archaeological investigations. He knows how to get the right brief.
I wish I could bottle his enthusiasm. Projects can take ages to conclude, and James is able to retain sincere interest over time (which really does help!). I would heartily recommend him.
Upon a recent successful planning application we were given a condition attached to undertake some archaeological investigation work. I spoke with James at Groundwork’s Archaeology who was key for me to enable me to understand what the council were actually asking and why .
James was really efficient in delivering the report and the condition was discharged enabling us to start the development of the project . I anticipate we will have similar conditions going forwards and will be calling James straight away when required, thank you !
I have used Groundworks Archaeology in instances where our electrical operations were within Scheduled Ancient Monument sites. From instruction they comprehensively deal with the process of applying for Scheduled Monument Consent until Consent is received. They provide a thorough on-site watching brief and liaise diligently with Historic England throughout the whole process. I can also count on them to provide me with excellent bespoke
archaeological advice which greatly assists our day to day work.
I have found them extremely professional, competent and knowledgeable and would highly recommend them to anyone dealing with or requiring archaeological guidance.
We have used Groundworks Archaeology to assist with the discharge of planning conditions associated with a number of approved developments we have secured for our own clients. The works commissioned have included the provision of preliminary written reports (WSI’s), together with instances of more extensive fieldwork.
Whilst archaeology can often appear a complicated subject matter for a layperson, we have always found James to be incredibly helpful in terms of explaining exactly what is required as well as clearly outlining the most practical route to achieve the end goal.
As part of the professional services offered, Groundworks also assist in handling liaison with the Local Authority throughout the process, in order to help secure results in the most cost effective and time efficient manner for the Client / Landowner. We regularly recommend their services to others.
